Overview
Company Background
Navihedge is a foreign exchange (FX) company, and this application is designed for internal users from multiple departments.
This web-based application can be used for FX trading, reviewing reports, managing rate environments, compliance checks, managing clients and beneficiaries, and paying beneficiaries. The users will be the treasurer, sales, operation, and compliance team employees.
Business requirement
Meeting the diverse needs of different departments
providing Simplified workflow and shortcuts for the users to improve their work efficiency
Visualising complex data
Project
The Brief: Reviewing reports before and after trades is an important part of their daily work. There are many reports for them to review daily. We are building a report module that meets the treasury team's daily work needs.
How might we help the finance team find their way through complex data reports so that they can get the information needed more efficiently?
Duration
A 2 weeks sprint
Tools
Paper and pencil, Miro, Figma
Methods
Secondary research, user interview, user survey, comparative analysis, archetype and scenario creation, sketching, wire-framing, prototyping, and usability testing.
Understanding their workflow
What is their daily work like?
Before designing the solution, I need to understand their current ways of working and their pain points. The best way to get contextual information is through user interviews and contextual inquiry.
Problem identifying
They waste too much time searching for the information.
After meeting the treasury team, I realised:
There were many reports, and the treasury team only needed to review about 20 reports daily.
The reports' table might be long, have many headings, and need a lot of vertical or horizontal scrolling.
Two reports needed to be reviewed every two hours for at least eight currency pairs. They searched for the currency pair by typing it, which meant they had to search 16 times every 2 hours, which was time-consuming.
Solutions
Filters – help users to narrow down their search
After understanding the treasury team's workload and workflow, I created three filters that allow the user to save as a favourite setting.
The first layer
Filter for the menu
All the reports are on the menu. However, some don't need to be viewed daily, so the user can hide them on the menu, making it easier to find the reports they want.
After the user manages their menu, the next time they log in with their account, the menu will display as they set it.
The menu can be narrowed down to a side.

The second layer
Filter for the table heading
Users can hide or rearrange the order of the table's headings, which will help users filter out unwanted information, and they can prioritise the information they need.
Users can click the “…” to manage their table. The table filter will be open as a pop-up.
The order of the table’s heading can be rearranged.

The third layer
Saveable filter for the table contents
After the users select the options, they can save and rename the filter.
Users can duplicate, edit, and delete the saved filter, so it's easy to manage.
Users can apply the filter or add the filter to “Save to favourite.”

Users need to click “save” after editing the saved filter to apply the changes.

Feedback
“We love it.”
According to the usability test, the "Saved Filter" function might help users save up to 4% of time daily.
What’s next?
To add a “Save as default” feature in the saved filter
Test it in more different scenarios, and keep improving it.
Reflection
What did I learn?
The design should be based on the needs and requirements of users and businesses.
A designer should also have an overall view in order to create a feature that can adapt to all modules and changes.
